You'll probably want to click "Profile" in the orange bar at the top, and then on the button marked "Edit Profile".
Avatar:
You'll probably want to upload or link to an avatar.
Personal:
I had to change my display name, because it had automatically defaulted to lower case at the start of my name, and it was annoying me. Maybe you will too.
You can also add your location, a plug for your website if you have one, and a signature to come at the end of every post you make. The "status" will appear as little text underneath your avatar at the side of each of your posts, if you want to put something there.
Social:
You can provide links to your facebook, youtube, twitter, etc etc pages if you so wish.
Settings:
To be honest, you probably won't have to change anything here unless you're on a slow computer, and want to disable avatars to save a bit of load time. By "a bit" I mean "fractions of a second."
Privacy:
You may want to change it so that your profile is only visible to registered members of this forum, especially if you're including information such as the aforementioned twitter/facebook details etc. Likewise you'll want to do the same with your email visibility. The rest of the stuff is whether people can see if you're on the forums at the moment, things like that. Entirely up to you, of course.
Notifications:
DO THIS BEFORE YOU POST IN A TOPIC. SERIOUSLY, YOU'LL THANK ME LATER.
You can choose to be notified about various activities on the forum. You'll want to deselect most of them. Notifications you want to keep, you can choose to receive by email, or by a little bubble that shows up near the top of the forum page when you visit the forum.
By default, you'll be getting emailed every time somebody posts in a topic you have previously posted in. You don't want this to happen.
You'll probably also not need notifying every single time somebody quotes you, or "likes" something you've posted. No idea about "badges", "achievements" or "groups", though it sounds like there is something in place for creating splinter factions within the forum. "Roger's Rebels" or some such. You can also choose whether or not to receive emails that are sent out en masse to all members by staff. I'm assuming Peepmaster would have a good reason for this, so I've allowed it. You may not be so generous.
Badges:
Not a clue. They look pretty though.
