We have two forums. The way I've observed this unfolding, this one was unnecessary. The good will was in place to continue with the old one and all of its history, whether it be paid for by Roger, or the various members who were queuing up to volunteer donations. Something obviously needed to be done urgently, and it was happening. Next we know, up pops this forum, and all Hell breaks loose. You obviously didn't read my post outlining the messages I had received out of the blue. There was no, "Hi, I have to duck out of running the forum in a week or so - can you help arrange something else", in a polite way. Instead, there was the blunt, "I'm out, you and Sandy are now the admins, and by the way, you need to find a new host." Sandy Buttcheeks will back me up as he was copied in. That's it summarised. Does anyone seriously think I spent time doing what I've done for the sake of it? In any event - it's easy to pass judgement and snipe when you're a poster, don't get involved in the other stuff, and don't know what messages were sent to me. I could have done without having to do this forum, and moving the website. But I did it, just like the other times along the way. Anyone who thinks I spent time I couldn't afford this weekend, doing what I've done, unnecessarily, doesn't know the background. I don't have to explain myself anymore. My head is held high.

Here is the PM I sent: The admins yesterday were: Peepmaster, Tarquin Thunderthighs and Mince.
Today they are: Peepmaster and Sandy Buttcheeks.
Welcome to being an admin, Sandy.
I also need to move the forum to another host, so that I am not the one who has to deal with its problems.
At the moment the forum is on Host Papa. I can open a new account under Host Papa for £70.20 for three years (with a free new URL as well) and transfer www.beaupeep.com and www.cameldung.com and the emails to there, or I can download the database and files to be transferred to another host. Either way, one of you has to be in charge of the hosting.
Who wants to do it?

Here is the PM you sent: I have a lot on my plate with the business, plus graphics and illustration, so reluctantly won't be able to do it. (I have done it ever since the inception, way before Mince persuaded us to move to a different server.) I think I've done my stint.
If you like, I can host the site on my www.cartoonists.co.uk website, and we can simply mask the url so it is still www.BeauPeep.com. That won't cost anything. I don't know why we have CamelDung.com as it's never been required.
What I won't be able to do is set things up so that the cartoon strips change automatically each week. I don't know how to implement that. I also won't be able to host the forum for similar reasons.
Cheers
Nigel

Then me reassuring you about the strips:
If your host runs php, it will do the changing strips, as it's now written in php.
Shall I send you the forum files and the database?

Then me to someone who expressed an interest in hosting:
I can give you full instructions on setting up the hosting plan, if you wish, and you can enter your credit card details. Once the hosting is there, I can set up the forum and other web site.
After that, it tends to run with no supervision needed. I would also need to make you admin.
Want to do that?

So you know, Peepmaster, you're not the only one this has been truly getting to, nor the only one whose time this has consumed over the weekend. Over the last few days I found out over and over again what it's like to feel stepped on. And from your latest post, I am sure you feel the same. Indeed, if you're feeling even half of what I have felt, I know it's truly getting to you. Then again, you're probably not stripping wallpaper at 2AM.
You seem unaware of how many are loyal to you. Jack supported you. Then Diane said she was putting you first. Roger has supported you. I know Sandy very well, and consider him a very good friend, and even he supports you. It doesn't end there, given what many have said to me by PM. You think I can command that kind of loyalty? You're also the founder of this forum. All I did was provide a host that retained all the posts (since the host you were on only kept posts up to a certain age) and ensured that the posts belonged to us, or more specifically you. They're still there. You are admin there, and I know the backers will give you control panel access there for the emails, ftp and database. And it's all paid for, and it always will be. And it's yours.
What you see as disagreement with you is not support for me at all. Believe me, I found that out the hard way. Your members want the posts, but more importantly they want you. But as Tarks pointed out, you're here, and the posts are there.
Now it's up to you how you proceed.
As for me, I don't intend to drop in again on either forum to find out how what you finally decided. And I'm certainly not important enough to matter.

Rob, that wasn't in the Scottish edition of The Star---they obviously don't want us to see these things in case we ask for a rise!

How heartening to see you focus on the important part of my last post, Nige. I called it as I saw it, and I obviously saw it differently to you, being a simple poster who doesn't get involved in "other stuff". If you want to interpret that as passing judgement and sniping, there's nothing I can say to change that now. I've looked at all the facts, and watched this as closely as a mere poster could from the start, and I stand by how I saw it; that a 'rescue plan' was well under way to save the existing forum and all of its past, and that this forum was unnecessary. I, and others, have thanked you for creating it, but in retrospect, I think it probably made matters worse. That is my opinion, which I believe is reinforced by both the subsequent revelations, and certainly by the continued squabbling. I'm not sure anyone's head should be held high after that. My personal hope is that Mince will return - he has been a key member here for many years, providing far, far more than an administrator role, and this place would be considerably poorer without him. Whatever you think of his bedside manner through all of this, whatever the problem was that demanded urgent action, from where I was standing, he was addressing it and doing his best to solve it. And succeeding - we still have the old forum, guaranteed to exist for many years to come. Sorted! And yet despite Mince's apologies for his own self-confessed shortcomings (and the more I read, the easier I can understand and forgive his "not entirely blameless" confession), the flak continues, and the accusations still fly. You'd almost think this wan't about the forum...

I ran this host past people on the other forum before signing up to it. Mince actually posted at the time that he thought it was a good idea.
I'm quite happy to close this one if it's not wanted, and in such circumstances, I'll look in and contribute to the other one.
I'm not getting involved in hosting a forum myself - I've never wished to do that. If the other forum succeeds, then I will wish the administrator all the best.

What you didn't read was the bit typed in lemon juice, that you have to use an iron on your monitor screen to see, that says, "Peeps, I love you really. Mince". Honest Guv'nor. Disclaimer: Sandy Buttcheeks takes no responsibility for any damage to monitor screens due to the higher IQ forum members believing the above.
